COVID-19 Long-Haulers

In the US, over 25 million people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and the number continues to rise. For many symptoms typically subside within 3-4 weeks. However, for an estimated 10% of those infected with COVID-19, symptoms are lasting months, giving them the name COVID-19 long-haulers. These people have theoretically recovered from the virus, and are no longer contagious or spreading the virus but are still dealing with unwanted and sometimes debilitating symptoms. As many have seen and know, symptoms of COVID-19 vary from person-to-person and that is exactly what we are seeing with long-hauler symptoms. Sometimes long-hauler symptoms are completely different than the symptoms they experienced when they were first infected, and for some the same symptoms will linger.
Some of the common symptoms that COVID-19 long-haulers are experiencing are:
- Fatigue (sometimes debilating fatigue)
- Loss of taste and smell
- Joint pains
- Body aches
- Brain fog
- Headaches
- Difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, confusion
- Shortness of breath
- Coughing
- Difficulty sleeping
