HOW CAN YOU HELP ME?
Our physicians at Healing Duo Integrative Family Medical Practice provide top quality natural healthcare for the entire family. We care for patients from newborn all the way to adulthood. Our physicians are trained to handle a variety of conditions from minor infirmities to major chronic illnesses. Ultimately, our physicians focus their efforts on treating the whole person and not just lab results or an afflicted body part. You are a whole person, and not merely a medical condition.
Naturopathic Physicians always focus on treating the underlying cause of disease. Common methods used by ND’s include herbal medicine, dietary counseling, nutritional supplementation, manipulative therapy, acupuncture, and counseling. ND’s are also trained in pharmacology and drug-herb/supplement interaction. These methods are generally safer and are less toxic.

WHAT IS A NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIAN (ND)?
Simply put, naturopathic physicians (ND’s) are experts of natural medicine.
The ND’s at Healing Duo Integrative Family Medical Practice are doctors who specialize in natural family medicine. They are licensed by the State of Connecticut to diagnose and treat all medical conditions. Licensed naturopathic physicians are the only physician level specialists in natural medicine in the State of Connecticut. We are trained to identify and remove the causes of disease and treat patients using natural, non-toxic therapies. Our goal is to treat your condition and maximize your health to ultimately get you back to doing the things you love.
WHY CAN’T I JUST TREAT MYSELF WITH VITAMINS AND HERBS FROM THE HEALTH FOOD STORE?
The abundance of herbal and nutritional supplements available over the counter can be overwhelming. Note well: it may be hazardous to one’s health to receive medical advice from any person not appropriately trained.
The naturopathic physicians at Healing Duo Integrative Family Medical Practice have a comprehensive understanding of botanical medicine, nutritional biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, and interactions between natural & drug therapies. Just because something is natural does not mean it is inherently safe for you. Without specialized training, one cannot safely make recommendations regarding natural medicine.
DO I HAVE TO STOP TAKING MY PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS?
The short answer is No. Many patients come to see a naturopathic physician because they are concerned about the risk, cost, and side effects of pharmaceuticals. In many cases, there are natural therapeutics that can decrease or even replace the need for your prescription medications. Also, naturopathic physicians can often help reduce unwanted side effects using complementary natural therapies. Above all, we want you to reach your health goals safely. When prescription medication is concerned, we ultimately believe that an integrated and collaborative approach is ideal.
ARE NATUROPATHIC TREATMENTS SCIENCE-BASED?
Controlled scientific studies are the basis for the therapies used by many naturopathic physicians. The physicians at Healing Duo Integrative Family Medical Practice stay current with medical literature and make every effort to use therapeutics with documented scientific efficacy, or a long history of clinical safety and effectiveness.
